cat hair

Well, as it turns out the people who lived here before us were cat lovers and they had a herd of cats living in this apartment. Last Wednesday when David and I arrived we had assumed that all was well and that we could start getting settled in our new home. Well........... cat hair has a way of lingering and so does cat pee. Yep. Like I said they had a herd of cats. :-) I like cats too but after all the cat hair that we vacuumed up with our new vacuum that we just bought, I don't know if I'm too fond of them. I still like them but now I'm realizing what kind of a mess they can leave behind. (I still like my childhood cats that I grew up with though :-). What is interesting is that the management says that the carpet was cleaned and that we should have been able to see the carpet rake marks in the carpet, showing us that it was cleaned. But what we found in the vacuum tells us that it either wasn't done at all or it wasn't done correctly.
What makes it more difficult is that David is allergic to cats. Extremely allergic. So allergic that he can't breathe. So that is not good. Fortunately, we have some nice friends in the area who have let us stay there at night. Also, so far Eric and I don't seem to be allergic. But the past few days, I've been sneezing quite a bit.

We have talked to the manager and showed him the stuff that we vacuumed up and he offered to have it re-cleaned with a steam cleaner and to have it deodorized. So hopefully, that should help. If it doesn't help then we will either decide to have the carpet replaced or to just move to another apartment, since most of them seem to be very affordable around here.

We would really appreciate your prayers on this matter, for David and his allergies/breathing difficulties and for me to cast all my cares, worries, stresses, etc. on the Lord, and for me to realize that He can handle it all.
Thanks!

If anyone is wondering how Eric is doing, I think he's getting cuter. I think he got cuter when he got his second tooth. :-D Yep, now he has two bottom teeth. Of course he's cuter now. He's our little baby boy. I wish I could get my camera hooked up so I could put some pictures on here. I think it might be awhile though before I'm able to do that, I'm using David's computer and our personal computer isn't hooked up yet. But hopefully, it won't be too long before things are back to normal.

We're here

We made it! We're in Washington now. We arrived late on Wednesday morning (around 11am).
I will give more details on the exciting trip. We are thankful that we made it here safe. Enough said. :-)
We are so blessed to have found such a nice apartment. It is huge compared to what we had. It has a washer and dryer and I have already used it a few times since I've been here.
I must get going now. We need to go get something to eat because the dishes, pots and pans are not unpacked yet.

I'll try my best to update this to let you all know how things are going.

Breaking news!!!!

Eric has a tooth! Eric has a tooth! Whoo hoo Eric has a tooth. His very first tooth. (Can you tell I'm a first time parent?) All these months of fussiness and teething....
He just turned 8 months last Monday. He's been teething since about 4 months and it's taken a while to come to the surface but now it has. It's the bottom left one.
Also, he's almost crawling and sitting up. This past week, he has started scooting a little, but mostly he rolls over to get to where he wants to go. He's getting so strong. I'm so proud of him.
He's getting to be a big boy. Soon he'll have his own room and he can crawl and play with his toys all he wants. Also, we'll have to get a "forward facing" car seat because he has almost outgrown the "rear facing" one he has. (looking back, I'd wished that we would have bought the convertible kind but oh well).

Just an update.... The packing is coming along. I just had to take a break. I was getting a little stressed thinking about all the details about the move and such.
Anyway, Eric is such a joy. I love being a mom.

Lots of boxes

Eric's smiles have been helping me to cope with the packing. He has been quite happy lately. He doesn't seem to mind the boxes. It gives him something new to look at. He thinks it's funny how his mom is constantly transferring him from his pack n play, to his crib, since that is the only safe place for him these days.

I'm tired of packing. It's exhausting. But thankfully, it's almost done and it soon we can unload and find a new place for all this stuff. I'm looking forward to re-arranging and re-decorating our new apartment.
One good thing about moving is that it's a good chance to get rid of stuff that we don't need.

Boxes to the ceiling

You should have seen the look on my face this past Saturday.
This packing thing is really started to bother me. I have such a hard time with the boxes and boxes everywhere. I know it's just temporary and in a few weeks, we'll get to unload all the boxes, but it feels like my life is in those boxes. It is also really hard to take care of a baby when everything is out order and in boxes.
I need to just take a deep breath. It will all be over soon. Very soon.

Last week and weekend David's little sister helped us to pack. I love having help. It is so nice to have a big family that can help. :-) Anyway, now we have most of our stuff packed. We will be using paper plates and plastic utensils for the next few weeks. We've decided it's easier that way. And, we get to eat out a little more. That's fun.

The other thing that is bothering me is the drive up there to Washington. I guess it's those unknowns. I think it will be challenging to drive up there with a baby. But Eric seems to be a very good baby so I probably have nothing to worry about.

the packing

Eric is taking a nap so I'm taking a break so I can blog for a minute.
The packing started last Monday. We got home from our trip Sunday. So far I think we're making some progress. We have 2 weeks to go before we leave.
I'm so glad that David is organized. He has labeled boxes and started a log of what is in each box. So the unpacking part should be much easier. :-)

I have mixed feelings about this move. First off, I have lived in California my whole life. And now we're moving way up North to Washington. Second, both of our parents live in California.
We're going to miss our families a lot.
But fortunately, we have some family/relatives up in Washington and Idaho so it's not all that bad.

I think by the end of the 2 weeks, we'll have boxes packed to the ceiling. I'm going to save a place for Eric's pack n' play so I can put him in there and he'll be safe while we're packing.

We have a lot of things to do to get ready for the move. We've already put our forward address form in at the post office so that all of our mail will get forwarded (hopefully). We also plan to change the mailing addresses with all the bills/important mail etc.
We have a lot of stuff to get rid of/give away.
I must get going now. Gotta get back to work.
