Trying out another webblog

Just checking out wordpress to see if it's any better than blogger.
My blog is now here. I have moved all my posts over there so I might end up using them instead of blogger.

the outdoors

Eric likes being on top of his daddy's shoulders. He can see a lot sittin up there.
This was taken outside of our apartment.

We found a really nice trail and a park that is right by the river. It's beautiful and relaxing. We also bought a jogging stroller and have been using it quite a bit. It's great because this is something that we can do as a family and Eric seems to really enjoy it.
Here he is looking out at the river. It has been so pleasant in the evenings. It's perfect for taking a walk and enjoying the scenery.

What is he doing now?

I have trying to teach Eric to drink from a trainer cup but right now he just wants to play with it and chew on the spout.
I think he'll get the hang of it soon. He's a smart boy.

He likes this toy. It's a truck that has a cloth book on the bottom. He also likes to chew on it.
Eric says: "I've been sleeping better at night and not crying so much when my Mommy and Daddy put me in my crib. It took me a while to get used to having my own room. It was so quiet and lonely. I didn't know what to do. And on top of it all, I have this achiness in my gums, I have 2 teeth coming in on top and it really bothers me. I also have my glow worm and a crip soother waterfall that sings songs to me. All I have to do is reach up and push the button and it plays songs and soothing rainforest noises. And sometimes, if that doesn't help, I can cry a few more times then my Mom or Dad would come in and sing a few hymns to me. There's nothing like hearing the sound of their voices. They rock!
I still haven't figured out how to crawl. I can roll over and scoot backwards and do the army crawl, but some other babies have been passing me up. One of these days I'm going to just take off. My mom and dad won't know what to do :-).
I'm ready for my afternoon nap. I hope my mom puts me down in my crib soon because I'm just about ready to dose off in my play yard. I'll be sure to let you all know how things are going with me and my mommy and daddy. Bye for now. "

gated yard

David and I bought a gated yard for Eric. He's been scooting everywhere so we had to do something to keep him safe. We have a fire place in the living room and it has a hearth that has a dangerous edge and it needs to be hidden away from exploring babies. So for now we've decided to put him in his yard.
In other news, we have health insurance in Washington now. Now we are all covered for any medical bills/doctor visits. I found a pediatrician for Eric in the area. That's another thing we can check off our list. That feels good to be able to check things off. I can't always do that now that I'm a mom. And now that Eric is getting more and more mobile and growing older, I've been very busy.

crying at night

Eric doesn't want to go to sleep at night. He's been fighting his bed time shortly after we've moved here (for the past week or so). I think it's because he has his own room and he is not used to it. He has been sleeping in our room since he was born.
I suppose it could be teething too, because he already has two teeth. But the teethers that we've been using don't seem to help much. I don't want to give him infant tylenol just so he'll calm down. I don't think that is the answer.
David and I don't know how long it will take for him to start settling down instead of crying for a while before he goes to sleep. It's getting a little tiring. The past few nights we've tried to do the 15 minute rule, then check on them etc, but that hasn't worked so far. I just don't see how I can ignore him and let him cry. It pulls at my emotions and heart strings everytime I hear him cry. I have a baby monitor in our room and it's so loud, it scares me sometimes.

almost 9 months old

Finally I am able to connect to the family computer and hook up the camera and hopefully talk about Eric some more. :-)
Eric thinks he's going to change his own diaper. Ha ha! It's been fun changing him because he rolls over in the process.
Here he is sitting in his daddy's chair.

Things have been a bit crazy here for the past few weeks. Since we've had the carpets cleaned last weekend, David has been doing better. We've also had the carpet replaced in the master bedroom walk-in closet. That made a difference too.
